Store Opening/Store Closing 2.0

Looking for a Bay Ridge Doctor? Good Chinese food? Etc...

No. The last time that I walked by, they had taken all of the HD things out of the front of the store- if I remember correctly they had taken off the signs in the front too. Pretty sure that I am talking about the right place...

What the heck is going up on 86th next door to 9 west? They've added two floors on top and huge windows going from the top of its first floor almost to the third. Looks fancy to me.

italiana -- I thought that's supposed to be Fabco. Unless something changed, that's what a sign said months ago before any construction started.

What is a Fabco? Is it like a Costco? Oh, wait. Is that the store that's going to be in direct competition w/Century two stores away?

I thought Fabco was a shoe store, but then others said this location was going to have clothes too.

I heard it's going to be a super fabco. Shoes on one level and clothing and accessories on another. I kinda hope it's going to something else, because fabco shoes suck.

I saw a huge crowd outside Monacos today and balloons, so I assume they are now open?

I just drove by Monaco's on 3rd - they were opened. The place looks nice. Glad to see we will have another option for bakeries in the neighborhood.

UPS Store on 94th & 3rd appears to have closed. Though there is no sign on door/window, it was not open this afternoon and everything looks packed up inside.

Funny you should say that, I was wondering how they were going to ship the stuff after reading your first post.

Beebo's set to open on 3rd between 85 and 86 - it looks like they have a covered garden area (greenhouse looking thingee)

still no signs of life from Chianti.

i don't remember if it was going to be on third or fifth -- the sign just says the name and coming soon. They're doing a ton of work on the old Canteena/Pizzazaria.

Probably because they haven't been "RJs" for a while now. Their liquor license wasn't renewed months ago and they attempted to get a new liquor license under the name "Bar 89" (or "Bar 88", something like that), even though it's the same owners. I'm guessing they didn't get approved.

Because 1) that's the name they used when submitting their application to the community board for a new liquor license, and 2) for a brief time they had a paper sign in their window w/this new name on it.

Fresca Bakery that opened at 91st & 5th Ave - is this the same Fresca that was at 92nd near Ft Ham Pkwy?
hmm, I guess they moved to have a better location on a main avenue, and here I thought they closed because they weren't very good (friend bought cookies from them once and they were practically stale).

Looks like it'll be a while before Huckleberry's opens...huge sign in window advertising that they're Now Hiring. I would've thought they'd done that by now since the place has looked ready to open for over a month, but if they're only just starting to look now, guess it'll be longer than thought until they open. Quite a few jobs are listed on the sign, including baristas.

walking by tonight I spotted Omonia Cafe is closed for renovations, won't be re-opening til Spring 2011.

And does anyone know the scoop on Chianti's?! It would appear they've gone out of business since it's been 3 months since they "closed for renovations" with no appearance of work being done. But if they closed for good, wouldn't the landlord be looking for new tenants. Anybody know what's going on?
