Tour de Brooklyn on Sunday, June 3rd

The 8th Annual Tour De Brooklyn, a 21.5 mile bicycle ride through the County of Kings, will be pedaling its way through Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights – with a rest stop at Dyker Beach Park – this Sunday, June 3.

The tour, which begins and ends in Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene, departs at 10 a.m., although participants are encouraged to begin showing up at 8:00 a.m. for check in. Riders will take in the sights as they make their way through neighborhoods including Fort Greene, Park Slope, Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Midwood, Kensington, and Prospect Heights, with a rest stop at Dyker Beach Park [Bay 8th Street bet. Belt Pkwy and 86th Street].

No streets will be closed for the non-race, family-friendly paced event, which is open to riders of all ages and skill levels.

NYPD officers will escort the “rolling parade,” that according its official website will make “occasional stops while the police and marshals secure intersections and gather riders.”

The bulk of the Bay Ridge leg of the tour will take place on Shore Road, after riders make their way over from 4th Ave via 68th Street.

While pre-registration is closed, there will be limited spaces available Sunday morning on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The ride was fun. A bit crowded but the cops and marshals were great and we didn't deal with much traffic at all. I liked Tour de Bronx better; we did not see enough of Brooklyn's beautiful neighborhoods. The ride down Shore Rd was one of the highlights. I am looking forward to going back on my own and heading out to the greenway!
